It wasn\u2019t Jill Munroe from\u00a0Charlie\u2019s Angels<\/em>.<\/p>\n It wasn\u2019t the celebrity whose feathered blond hair became a cultural phenomenon.<\/p>\n It was Redmond\u2019s mother.<\/p>\n And motherhood, unlike fame, offered her no script for how to save someone she loved.<\/p>\n <\/ins><\/div>\n Farrah\u2019s relationship with Ryan O\u2019Neal had always resisted the neatness celebrity stories prefer. They met around 1979 and began a relationship that lasted, with separations and reconciliations, across decades. Friends and loved ones gathered around her.<\/p>\n Redmond himself was incarcerated during part of his mother\u2019s final illness. He was reportedly permitted a temporary release to visit her in the hospital.<\/p>\n Imagine the emotional weight of that encounter.<\/p>\n A mother nearing death.<\/p>\n A son whose own life remained unstable.<\/p>\n No movie ending available.<\/p>\n No perfect speech capable of undoing years of pain.<\/p>\n Just time, suddenly brutally expensive.<\/p>\n Farrah died on June 25, 2009.<\/p>\n She was 62.<\/p>\n Her longtime friend and physician Dr. Lawrence Piro later said that, near the end, Farrah\u2019s concern remained focused on Redmond.
